Cuongga's Grey
Cuongga's Grey
In the United States, people call this color "blue" but in Viet Nam it is called "xám", meaning "grey". It is not a hennie because it has long, pointed saddle feathers. This cock has green legs togather with large eyes almost similar to frog eyes. Some would probably call it frog eyes.
This photo was taken by Tu Xuong sometime in May/June of 2005 when the cock was approximately 1 year and 7 months old. It is now about 2 years, 2 months old.

This cock was purchased in Phan Thiet (South Central Viet Nam) by Cuongga for $33 dollars when it was approximatley 10 months old (July/August 2004). Two of the brothers to this cock was sold at $150 dollars each. The price was considered high at the time as factory workers in province where Cuongga live only make about $70 dollars a month.

Foreigners can still purchase decent ga noi at affordable price in Viet Nam but the average price is on the rise. The average prices may vary widely depending on regions and sources. One private source told me that the prices of top quality ga noi in Viet Nam right now differ greatly from last year. Good battle cocks today can cost from $300 dollars and up. Multiple winners are in the thousand dollars ranges. Cockers from neighboring countries used to be able to come to Viet Nam to buy top ga noi at low price but that is changing because they will have to beat out the local cockers who are becoming more affluent or have financial supports oversea.
